In keeping with the ethos of the International Baccalaureate, St Leonards provides a holistic education.  We therefore provide a range of co-curricular activities aimed at enabling our pupils to uncover new talents and interests and develop those that exist already. From kayaking to chess, from creative writing to Japanese for beginners, there is something for everyone.

Daily Co-Curricular Activities

Activities generally begin at 4.30pm each day, with a number also being run at the weekend. In addition to the wide ranging programme of activities, pupils also have the chance to take part in sports fixtures (see our Sports page for more detail), drama performances (see our Drama page) and musical performances (see our Music page) and to play their part in the community through the likes of charity fund raising.

Developing the whole child

Aside from giving our pupils the chance to broaden their horizons, our activities programme seeks to develop key life skills. For example, members of the Debating Club learn about communication and logic, members of the Young Enterprise group enhance their leadership and business awareness skills, while those taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme improve their team-working and problem solving capabilities.

Wide ranging Activities currently offered include:

  • Duke of Edinburgh (gold, silver and bronze)
  • Young Enterprise
  • Musical bands
  • Sports and games, including Boxercise
  • Drama
  • Art club
  • Creative Writing (including production of the student-led Writers’ Block publication)
  • Dance
