On Tuesday, 26 September, the Junior School joined in the celebrations for the European Day of Languages for the first time.
Following the success of the Council of Europe and the European Union’s Year of Languages in 2001, the Day of Languages has been marked each year on 26 September and pupils in the Junior School certainly embraced the occasion.
It was a truly international day, reflecting the diversity of St Leonards, with children dressing up to represent different countries and embarking on an exciting programme of activities relating to language learning.
The pupils took part in a sign language workshop, a t-shirt design contest, a singing the world workshop, language games and mini language lessons taught by our native Year 12 and 13 students.
A whole school quiz rounded off the day’s events and foods from around the world went down a treat!
